Rob Larson, PGA of Canada pro and manager at Two Hills Lions Golf and Country Club, offers his advice on golfing strategy for Two Hills and for your overall golf game.

“The key with playing the Two Hills Lions Golf and Country Club is to play for position. While a lot of the par fours are short and relatively wide open, you want to make sure you leave yourself with a comfortable yardage into the green. Many times golfers will stand on a 300 yard hole and just hit a driver because they can. Most golfers struggle with the 40- to 60-yard pitch shots and are more comfortable hitting a full sand wedge or similar club.

Using your comfortable yardage for an approach shot as a guideline to determine which club to hit off the tee is an essential strategy to score well here.”

Larson’s tips for golfing in general?

“Practice your short game. Many players can hit the ball good enough to be a lot better than they are, but waste countless shots inside 150 yards. Find a practice area near you and hit shots from 10 yards, 20 yards, etc., with three different balls and consider each location a par 9 (three balls in three shots), playing each ball until it's in the hole. Don't always do it from perfect lies, because in the real world, perfect lies are rare.”
