Homework you can play on
Practice your short game while enjoying the work of NAIT students in Fairview
Students of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) turf grass management technology program at the Fairview, Alberta, campus are offering students, staff and visitors a chance to play golf on campus at no charge. Three par 3 golf holes—designed by Robert Kains and the renowned Les Furber—offer a taste of three different design philosophies and styles: contemporary, strategic and Scottish links. The holes surround an irrigation and fishing pond, and are the perfect way to practice your short game or spend a lunch hour. It’s not often that you get to enjoy the benefits of someone else’s homework. The course is part of the turfgrass program and students gain a fine understanding of turfgrass management—a skill that is obvious when playing the holes. Many of the graduates of this program go on to work at some of the most prestigious golf course developments in Canada and the United States, and NAIT is justifiably proud of the reputation their students have attained over the years.
