Having a good pair of socks may be one of the most important things a professional golfer can do for his game, yet the garments rarely seem to receive the credit they deserve. But four-time major champion Ernie Els, the newest spokesperson for Stable 26 footgear technology, said that more players should be paying attention.

“As a professional golfer I would say I take over a million steps a year in competitive play, so it’s impossible to overestimate the importance of your feet being comfortable and well supported,” said Els in a Stable 26 press release. “That’s why I choose Stable 26 socks. The in-built silicone pads provide extra padding where you need it most. Together with my ECCO golf shoes they help give my swing a secure foundation and ensure maximum comfort and support, literally every step of the way.”

Els, a world-renowned golfer from South Africa, had his first big win in 1984 when he took first place at the World Junior Golf Championship in the Boys 13-14 category. Since then, he has accomplished over 60 professional wins, including two World Golf Championships and four major championships—two at the U.S. Open and two at the British Open. He earned a spot in the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2011.

With so many years of professional golf under his belt, Els definitely has his fair share of experience with different types of gear—and is able to tell what works and what doesn’t. And for Els, Stable 26 crew line are the best type of socks he can find on the market.

What makes these socks unique is the addition of silicon pads to commonly experienced problem areas of footwear. The silicon is designed to eliminate gaps between the wearer’s foot and the inside of his shoe, reducing friction and allowing for the footwear to perform the way it was designed to.

The most important focus of Stable 26’s design is to create stability and protection for the valuable support bones and structures of the foot, while still providing comfort. And according to Els, they have been doing their job.
