Gallagher’s Canyon Golf and Country Club
Beautiful views and challenging golf at Gallagher's Canyon

This golf course is part of the GolfBC Group that owns world class golf courses in B.C. and Hawaii. Millions of years ago a canyon was created when the present Mission River cut across Layer Cake Hill. An early pioneer, Dan Gallagher, made the canyon his home. It is now the location of two golf courses, the Pinnacle Course and the Canyon Course.
The Pinnacle is an executive course, par 32, 1,984 yards, and takes its name from a rock formation in the canyon. The Canyon Course is a par 72, 6,802 yards, CR 72.2, slope 123 and rated 13 of the list of best public golf courses in Canada by Score magazine. Designed by Bill Robertson and Les Furber, the main course opened in 1980 and has matured into an excellent championship course. In addition to the golf courses, the Village of Gallagher’s Canyon refers to the residential homes that are part of the development.
The first hole is unique because the back tees are located on the roof of the pro shop. Hole No. 3 is a par 3, 175 yards over a ravine. Hole No. 6 is the signature hole, par 5, 524 yards. It is a good risk-and-reward hole if you go for the green in two. The back nine is easier than the front nine. Hole 13 is par 3, 197 yards uphill with a three-tiered green. Hole 17 is interesting, being a dogleg left, par 4, 409 yards, allowing the big hitters to cut the corner. Water barely comes into play on holes 9, 16 and 17. The course has broad fairways, 70 bunkers, large greens and manicured, tree-lined fairways.
The course has a double-ended driving range as well as putting, chipping and practice sand bunkers. The pro shop is well stocked and has a good restaurant. There are 19 golf courses in Kelowna and Gallagher’s Canyon is one of the best.
