One of the best times to visit the Waskesiu Golf Club, home of the lobstick, is during one of their long-running annual Lobstick Tournaments.

The iconic lobstick tree, a tassel-top tree created by cutting middle branches and used as a navigational marker by native Canadians, stands just over 100 yards out from the first tee. It is the symbol of the tradition and history of the Waskesiu Golf Club—so much so that their world famous match-play event is named in its honour.

The annual Lobstick Invitational at Waskesiu is the largest match play event in North America, attracting more than 700 golfers from across the continent to one of the four tournaments: juniors, men's, women's and senior men’s. The open division of the men’s tournament consistently attracts top amateur and CPGA professionals. The tournament has been a summer tradition in Saskatchewan for more than 70 years.

The Lobstick Tournaments are open to players of all skill levels. Registrations for events can be made by calling the pro shop at 306-663-5300. For a list of Lobstick Tournament dates for the next ten years, visit Waskesiu Golf Course or click here.
