Rory McIlroy hoists the Wanamaker Trophy after winning the 2012 PGA Championship.

There’s been plenty of buzz lately about a rising star in the world of golf, Rory McIlroy. The 23-year-old is a Northern Irish golfer who is a member of both the European and PGA tours.

McIlroy played unbelievably well during the recent 2012 U.S. PGA, where he won by having eight strokes less than the second-place golfer, sitting him at a strong 13-under-par finish. This win makes him the youngest winner of the tournament since it adopted stroke play in 1958. His eight-stroke victory also created a new record for the PGA championship, beating Jack Nicklaus’s previous record-winning margin of seven shots, set in 1980.

The young golfer has been compared to Tiger Woods with his sudden, rapid rise to fame and his powerhouse skills on the course. You’d best keep an eye out for this young golfer; his impressive play is sure to be in the spotlight for years to come.
