Canada's long dry spell on the PGA Tour has come to an end. But the guy who did it wasn't the guy you'd have expected.

No, it wasn't Graham DeLaet, the best Canadian never to win on the tour. Nor was it Masters champion Mike Weir, the last Canadian-born golfer to win a PGA event seven years ago. And it wasn't even Stephen Ames, the last Canadian citizen to claim victory (in 2009.)

It was Nick Taylor, a 26-year-old from Abbotsford, B.C., via Winnipeg, who claimed top prize at Sanderson Farms Championship in Jackson, Mississippi, by shooting a final-round 66. In doing so, he became the first native Canadian to win since Weir did it in 2007 and the first Canadian resident to win since Ames, a native of Trinidad and Tobago and a naturalized Canadian, accomplished that feat in 2009.

And you don't have to be embarrassed if you've never heard of him. Few outside the tight-knit Canadian golf community have. Taylor didn't make many headlines on the Web.com tour, although he did have some success on the minor league circuit.
