KAMLOOPS, B.C. Friday, November 28, 2014—Tobiano Golf Course owners are pleased to announce key strategic changes for the New Year… Terry Smith, long time golf course superintendent is now at the helm as General Manager, Trisha Larsen from The Web Advisors is Director of Marketing and Shannon McGeady is the new Head Golf Professional as of November 17th - and the fourth female head golf professional in BC!

"I was honored to have been asked by the ownership to move into a dual role as General Manager/Superintendent position at Tobiano in August. I feel that my 30 years experience in the Kamloops golf market, combined with my knowledge of the past successes that we have achieved at Tobiano, as well as our challenges, will be very beneficial to our decision making moving forward” says Terry Smith. Key strategic moves thus far include hiring key personnel, preparation of Tobiano’s 2015 Membership Program and Schedule of Fees and 2015 budgeting. When asked as to how one person could manage two key roles in a golf course operation, Smith replied “I have plenty of excellent help in the Turf Care Department with Paul McDonald, Ryan Sauser and Joe Hutt to ensure the maintenance levels are as high as our reputation demands. We have worked together for years and will continue to do so!”

Smith then contracted marketing and financial planning services to assist him with charting the new course for Tobiano, hiring British Columbia golf marketing specialist Trisha Larsen and her Web Advisors team and, as of last Monday, has a new Head Golf Professional in the Tobiano stable - Shannon McGeady!

McGeady has been playing golf since she was 10 years old, competitively since 16 and competed in six Canadian National Championships representing the Province of Saskatchewan and claimed the Saskatchewan Women’s Amateur in 2007. Upon completion of the Professional Golf Management (PGM) program at Lethbridge College in March 2008, McGeady headed for Rivershore in Kamloops and received her professional designation that summer. McGeady received her Class A designation in the Spring of 2013 and not even two years later has been handed the golf reigns for Tobiano.

McGeady is definitely ready to ride and excitedly comments... “Throughout my time in Kamloops I have met many wonderful people, and been fortunate to create great relationships with golf course members, customers, residents, staff and the Kamloops community as a whole. One of my favorite things about being a golf professional is interacting with the all the different types of people I meet on a daily basis and igniting passion about the great game of ours, especially through teaching. To me, there is nothing more satisfying than watching a student succeed, put a smile on their face and encourage participation in the life-long sport of golf. I feel like I am very lucky to be able to turn my passion into a career in one of the most beautiful places in Canada, and it obviously doesn’t hurt that the golf course itself at Tobiano is AMAZING! I am extremely excited to start this new chapter in my life and career; and am thrilled to be part of the team about to deliver a New Year at Tobiano!”

Smith is thrilled to have Shannon McGeady join his Tobiano team as Head Golf Professional and considers it a bonus that she is British Columbia’s fourth female head golf professional. “Shannon will be a familiar face to those who have played at Rivershore or Sun Rivers over the past eight years as she has had a golf professional position at both of those courses. Her passion to teach the game of golf, as well as her friendly and welcoming personality will make the Tobiano experience even better in 2015 and years to come. Shannon is definitely the right person for the job and the fact that she is female is a bonus! We hope that Shannon will be an inspiration to more women to pursue a career as a golf professional”, comments Smith.

With the addition of the new horsepower, Tobiano Golf looks forward to rekindling relationships with the community of Kamloops, the golfing community of British Columbia and to welcoming every customer including Roger Sloan! Cheers to a New Year dawning early at Tobiano!
