This year, Windermere Valley Golf Course celebrates being in business for a quarter of a century, and we spoke with Dale Moore, head professional at the course, about how things have changed in 25 years.

“I think the biggest change would be in the maturity of the course,” he said.“They planted over 800 trees when the golf course was built, just these small fir trees, and we’ve watched them grow about a foot each year.”

Moore is certainly one to vouch for the scenery change—he’s been a working golf professional at Windermere Valley for 17 years. Not only has he seen the trees grow, but also how they have changed and affected game play.

“You can’t just drive out into the open anymore,” Moore said.“It’s no longer one big open field. The trees come into play and certainly have added an element of difficulty to each hole.”

Food and beverage services have also grown significantly in the past years, and it’s a good thing, too.

“We started off selling basically just sandwiches and hotdogs,” said Moore.

Today Windermere Valley has a full-service hot menu at their clubhouse restaurant, Kari’s Kitchen.

In celebration of its 25th anniversary, Windermere Valley Golf Course is presenting an afternoon golf special of 18 holes for just $25. This deal runs for the whole season, so there is plenty of opportunity to head out and celebrate.
