The Golf Buddy World Platinum came on the market in 2010 and sells for around $349. All GPS units use the same software and with a higher price comes greater options.
This GPS unit is easy to use. It will recognize the course you are playing and the hole you are on, as it has 33,000 course preloaded. The touch screen incorporates full hole graphics and layout with a high contrast TFT-LCD screen. The GPS will give the distance your tee shot travelled and the remaining distance to the red, white or blue flag. Hazards like water, bunkers and trees are both visual and show actual distance. The GPS will also give you lay-up distance or distance over the hazards. As you approach the green, the green will change shape based on your angle to the green.
This GPS unit has many other features: four player score tracking module, statistical analysis module, short distance recognition and your choice of eight languages. There are no membership dues or downloading of apps. To quote Golf Buddy, “Just turn it on and play.”
