Get course-specific information from GPS device by Golf Buddy

by Denis Begin

Do you think it would be nice to have someone tell you the exact distance to the pin, without hiring a caddy? Such a device actually does exist and it is called Golf Buddy Voice. It is the latest GPS technology produced by the Golf Buddy Company.

The Golf Buddy is 1 oz. in weight and 1.7 inches square. It attaches to your hat or belt or can be left in your pocket. It operates by picking up a satellite feed and has an eight-hour rechargeable battery. The Voice is a pleasant-sounding lady and the device is activated by pressing one button, leaving your hands free. So what does this young lady do for the golfer?

1. Gives you the precise measurement to the front, middle and back of the green.
2. There is automatic course recognition, which downloads the course you are playing.
3. Will give you the distance you hit the ball as well as short distance measurements.
4. Is preloaded with 35,000 courses and 40,000 possible.
5. The picture of the approaching green actually changes shapes to match your angle to the green and indicates if the pin is left or right of centre.
6. Is multilingual in eight languages.
7. Updates can be obtained from Golf Buddy Course Management free of charge and there is no membership fee.

The Golf Buddy Voice sells for $199.99 at Golf Town and comes with power adapter, USB cable, silicone case and a quick start guide. For the price and simplicity of operation, a Golf Buddy is very attractive tool for the avid golfer.
