Bushnell Tour V2 Rangefinder

by Dennis Begin

Bushnell is better known for manufacturing binoculars, but also sells seven models of laser rangefinders, producing the number one rangefinder in golf.

The Tour V2 operates like any laser rangefinder, with a red laser light travelling to the target and back. Using speed of light x time = distance, the Tour V2 measures the travel time of the laser and calculates the distance to the target. The longer it takes the laser to travel, the longer the distance. Just aim the rangefinder, release the range button and read the distance. The expression is “point and shoot.”

The vertically designed gray Tour V2 has two modes of operation:

  • Mode 1 is line of sight for shooting in a straight line.
  • Mode 2 is pin-seeking technology, meaning that you can pinpoint a target without interference from background objects.

This technology produces accuracy of within a yard to 275 yards. This is reasonable, because not many golfers can hit a golf ball over 275 yards. The Bushnell also has target lock, which means a black circle locks itself around the target (the flag), allowing you to take the exact reading. In addition, five-times magnification helps golfers locate the flag on the green and lock on target. Slope compensation for hills is an option.

The Tour V2 weighs only seven ounces and easily fits in your golf bag. This rangefinder comes equipped with a rainproof carrying case and a two-year warranty, all for around $350.
