In 2009, D’Arcy Ranch Golf Course in Okotoks made SCOREGolf’s list of the top-10 public golf courses in Alberta as the winner of the Most Underrated award, and for good reason. At $75 a round D’Arcy is at the low end of the price scale in the region, but provides a high-end experience.

This 6903-yard, par-72 layout just minutes south of Calgary has been designed to interrupt the natural landscape as minimally as possible to take advantage of the natural trees, slopes and escarpments of the valley and provide a majestic, peaceful experience for golfers of all skill levels.

D’Arcy has also taken men’s and ladies’ nights to another level. They run five separate season-long leagues at the course in different categories (Mixed, Business Ladies, Men’s, Mixed Senior and Day League) during which various events and tournament styles are used to keep golfers mixing with each other, playing interesting types of golf and enjoying the game. League members move between best ball, Stableford and other scoring systems, and are also treated to special events like poker nights, skills nights, putting and driving competitions and more.

A 20,000 square-foot practice range (with a state-of-the-art covered artificial-turf teeing area for inclement weather) and three practice greens situated by the first tee ensures you’ll be nice and loose before you hit the course. Their commitment to great food in the clubhouse ensures you’ll be well-nourished after.

With the Rocky Mountains off in the distance and the peaceful tranquility of the foothills are around you, you’re sure to come away pleasantly surprised with your experience.
